Sorry, the POV workshop has been canceled this year due
to a lack of time. It has been replaced with this
exhibit and will likely occur at BoCon 2007.
The POV exhibit will show how to build a small electronic
device consisting of several
LEDs
(light emitting
diodes) and a programmable
microcontroller which when
moved quickly will display a message in the air. For
a simple example see http://ladyada.net/make/minipov/index.html.
The POV device is great fun for kids of all ages and
although the project is a little technical it is an
entry level project which kids might find fun constructing
at home.
In the spirit of Open-Source culture
you will be encouraged to modify and improve upon our
basic design and share your ideas and creations.
The POV is an example of an open hardware platform.
This means that its design and its software are
Open-Source.
