The History of Open-Source
Abstract
The talk gives a brief history of open systems and free software
since the development of the modern computer in the 1940s. The
talk will give special attention to events and moments when new
initiatives in open systems were established which are still
affecting open systems to this day. There is also an attempt to
compare the notion of open systems in computing to similar
notions in other fields of human endeavor.
